MJ pleads for a step closer to his dreams

Help hip hop dancer hopes he gets to Germany to achieve his dreams.

A local hip-hop dancer from Fourways is pleading for donations to help him get to Germany and achieve his dreams.

Michael-Jon (MJ) Stapfelt has been a dancer for almost three years and he wants to compete in the dance competition, Juste Debout in December.
The 20-year-old is determined to get to the competition to not only win but also to fly the South African flag high. “I want to get there and show them what we are made of but also learn so much that I bring the skills home. I want to better my skills so that the kids I teach also benefit.
“The donations will help with the travelling costs and accommodation. Every cent is appreciated because this is big for me.”

Michael-Jon Stapfelt has come a long way and is asking his community to help him achieve his dreams.

Stapfelt is a qualified level-one dance coach and teaches at Cedarwood School. “My achievements are not glitz and glam. My achievements are changing my learners’ lives,” he said.

The extra-mural coach at the school, Oliver Ngwenya said, “MJ started with a guest appearance at our talent show last year. He became an instant hit and this led to some parents requesting that he open a class for hip-hop dancing at our school which he immediately did. The class has grown from strength to strength and there is no place most children would rather be on a Friday afternoon.”
