Jaci Tibbit levels up and delivers on her promise to build a food tower

Mrs African United Continent 2022 made sure to fill cupboards with food for the needy through her initiative.

Jaci Tibbit, Mrs African United Continent 2022, has succeeded in her mission to come through for the needy. On November 11, Tibbit built a food tower named The Tower of Hope at Design Quarter in Fourways.

This was for their annual Power Towers Food Drive – an initiative that was inspired by the global pandemic.

Jaci Tibbit, Mrs African United Continent 2022 has her hands full of surprises for those in need.

“It was an incredible, heartwarming and joyful day filled with 6.2 tons of love for our communities in need. Our Tower, the Tower of Hope, is to serve vulnerable communities in need and inspire hope in the communities. It was a day of making a difference in the lives of others. Volunteers, titleholders, finalists of Mrs Johannesburg, Mrs Gauteng and Mrs Pretoria-Tshwane and the Fourways community all came together to donate non-perishable goods and help build our tower of hope.

“As the Springboks say, ‘Stronger Together’ and that was exactly what we had achieved together on Saturday. A big thank you to Fresh FM, they were fabulous as they always are, and were there on the day broadcasting live from the Power Towers Food Drive at Design Quarter. Also, a big thank you to Memorable Memoirs for capturing every moment of this phenomenal Power Towers Food Drive day.”

She admits she wouldn’t have been able to do it all alone. “Individually, we are one drop but together we are an ocean. I believe this speaks to the power we have when we bond for a great purpose.”

CEO of Rolemodels Foundation Alwyn Smit, Jaci Tibbit, and Juanita Smit.

That is the same reason her heart is full of gratitude. “I’d like to say thank you to every single amazing person, company, business and school that supported [the initiative]. A very special mention and thank you to Manny Pereira and Modern Packaging Distribution for their ongoing continuous support and our biggest donation from one company, two tons – one ton of rice and one ton of Super Sun Maize Meal.

They all made it possible for the needy to enjoy the festive holidays and kickstart the new year without worrying about food.

“May God Bless you all in abundance. The quote by Helen Keller sums up our Power Towers Food Drive 2023 – ‘alone we can do so little, together we can do so much’ and as Mother Theresa once said, ‘together we can do great things’. Together we built this amazing 6.2-ton tower of non-perishable food items to help our communities in need. We will be distributing food parcels to over 40 charities during December/ January. We all are so excited to end 2023 on a high as we are able to bless and feed our nation.

“Design Quarter, Rolemodels Foundation and Mzanzi Pageants came together to help and a special mention to the amazing Annah Moremela the marketing manager for Excellerate Real Estate Services, you have such a beautiful heart and for making it happen again at Design Quarter. Moremela said “This is a call bigger than us, and we look forward to encouraging businesses and individuals working with us again next year. #strongertogether.”

“We were particularly inspired and motivated this year after hearing Siya Kolisi’s testimony of his childhood, in which he described being given sugar water to ease hunger at night. It reminded us all that so many little children are wishing to get a meal. So, we just want to go from strength to strength every year to continue pushing to have a bigger Power Tower to keep feeding our nation.”
