Beaulieu College welcomes their 2024 Grade 8 learners

Grade 11 learners welcomed the 2024 Grade 8 learners with warm hugs.

With its new theme spirit, Beaulieu College hosted its 2024 Grade 8 learners’ orientation on November 4.

This was to introduce the learners to the school as well as help them make a few friends before the big first day. The school believes that with this theme, the newbies will develop to their fullest potential and embrace qualities and values that will serve them well throughout their lives.

A sign put up to welcome the learners.

Grade 11 learners lent a helping hand to the newbies and showed them around the school. The new Grade 8 learners wrote a message on a horse shoe which will be handed to them at their valediction when they graduate from the institution. “It was a fun activity to do but I cannot wait to see how my future self will react to this,” said one of the new learners.

According to a parent of one of the newbies, Nkuli Mkhize, high school is one of the most scary steps a child can take. “I am very scared that my little girl is on a journey to discover herself. I hope she does well, and I am hoping for the best in her academics too,” said Mkhize. She was not the only parent scared to embark on this journey. A few others expressed how scared they are that their children are going to be teenagers and that school is the only help they can get outside their homes. “We just hope for good marks and good behaviour. We also hope the teachers will help our children grow mentally.”

Helping with sizes and uniforms are Nohlanhla Mwelase and Buhle Mwelase.

The learners were very excited. One of the Grade 8 learners of 2024, Zahra Barnes, was so excited to be given this opportunity. “I already made two friends and it was going to be difficult on my first day so this icebreaker helps. I am so excited. I wish school was starting tomorrow. I cannot wait to make these halls my new home.”

Seen holding hopes and dreams on horse shoes are Lethabo Tladi, Abhay Enduri, Brennen de Lange and Avile Mbotshelwa.
From the Parent-Teacher Forum are Wendy Ruiter, Nelash Bansal and Ashley Bester.
