“Beerfest is an annual thing that we do; this year it’s slightly different because we’ve got the rugby coming later on,” said Ian ‘Snowy’ Snowball, chairman of the Bryanston Sports Club, indicating that even more Bryanston locals were expected to show up. “We should see quite a big take up a bit later on.”

The atmosphere was priceless and jovial. The Beerfest brought out the youthful zest of the elder patrons who danced, feasted and drank – hoisting their glasses in cheers to the Springboks from 15:00 until late into the evening.

Being at the Beerfest was a worthwhile way to ease into witnessing the Springboks’ captain Siya Kolisi make RWC history in defending South Africa’s title as world rugby champions.
