Association for the Blind recruits cyclists to raise funds

Participants will also be given goodies to help them cycle to the finish line.

In celebration of their 70th birthday, The SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind will partake in the 947 Joburg Ride to raise funds for people who are visually impaired, physically disabled and children with autism. The aim is to raise funds that will go towards training more assistance dogs and providing assistive devices such as a white cane to people living with disabilities.

The SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind provides people who are visually impaired with service dogs for people who are physically disabled, autism support dogs for children on the autism spectrum and teaching vital life skills to people who live with visual impairment through their orientation and mobility services. They therefore wish to have people participating in the 947 Joburg Ride with them thus raising funds going towards a good cause.

The ride will be on November 19 and The SA Guide Dogs Association for the Blind is pleading with communities to join their team to help people living with disabilities in South Africa. “Their dream is simply to be able to get to work unassisted or cook a meal for their family,” said Nicole Barros. The team is asking cyclists to join them and fulfill those dreams.

The closing date to register to be in their team is in October To join the team you can visit www.guidedog.org.za or email Nicole Barros at nicoleb@guidedog.org.za for any questions or assistance. Cycle with a team that wants to change people’s lives.
