Local NPO embarks on a cleaning spree

A total of 40 bags of waste were removed from the river bank.

Lovemore Foundation embarked on a cleaning spree on September 16 as part of the World Clean Up Day initiative.

The team marched out with different tools to make sure they left no spot uncleaned.

The aim was to make their community clean and remove waste they deemed harmful to their community. Accompanied by Ward 94 councillor, David Foley, the event was a success with 40 bags of waste removed from their community. The river at Grace Point Church is now clean and community members are very thankful to the Lovemore Foundation.

β€œIt brings me joy to see the environment we live in clean. My passion is to help people live in an environment that is spotless and this also creates employment. It is a win for the community of Fourways,” said the founder of the NPO, Lovemore Robson. β€œI want more people to take this gesture seriously and know that our community is one that values a clean environment and this can be achieved if we work together. Sometimes community members do help and that brings joy to my heart,” he added.

Brenda Matshue is getting down and dirty as she serves the people in her community with a clean environment.

Robson founded his NPO earlier this year but he has been cleaning his community for over four years. His organisation survives off donations he gets from community members who applaud his job. The 40-year-old sometimes struggles to get funding and he will rely on his team to come and voluntarily help him with his clean-up projects. β€œMy passion drives me, and I will not stop until my community is lovable and clean,” said Robson.

Seen in the deep end of the riverbank is Lerato Madaga.

β€œI am very thankful to my team for always pulling through for our community. You are all very special and I respect the work we do,” he added.
