Spring has sprung for Glenferness residents

It is a new season and Glenferness residents did not wish to miss the opportunity to plant more trees and beatify the parks and streets of the area.

Lee Klette loves where she lives so much that she thought of organising a cleaning spree that saw the streets, parks and road signs in Glenferness looking as good as new.

She said this was to welcome the new season but has also noticed how the infrastructure in the area was getting a bit ‘oldish’ and not appealing to the eye.

“Glenferness is a beautiful area and we wanted to enhance its beauty so that it inspires other areas as well to do the same,” she said.

Residents are hard at work for beautification day.

She was joined by the committee of Glenferness Residents Association, members of the fire brigade and Ward 94 councillor David Foley and residents as they all rolled up their sleeves to clean up the corner of Lachlan and McInnes roads at Glenferness on September 9.

The bags, gloves, and plants were supplied by the association.

Bernard Sithole is painting the road sign so that it looks as good as new.

“I am so happy to be here to beautify our area, especially in this season because it will be green. This is good for us and promotes a healthy environment,” said resident Noel Hosiwa.

The residents are proud of a job well done after the clean-up.

Foley said, “This area is already beautiful as you can see it has a lot of trees. I love what Lee has organised, it shows love for the area and it looks great now as we have cleaned the park, planted plants and beautified it. The community would be more motivated to use it now.”
