Crawford Learner escalates to another level

Jaidyn Naidoo dedicates leading award to his mother's support.

Jaidyn Naidoo not only left his parents and school beaming with pride, but the Grade 10 pupil is also proud of himself for working hard and winning a leading award.

He credits being disciplined, good time management and the ability to make sacrifices because they helped him to prepare both mentally and physically for the silver level of The President’s Award that he had achieved.

“The adventurous journeys required a lot of physical power to hike for three days, hours of practising music vocals and entering music competitions, hours of community service and swimming as my sport took a lot of strength from within,” he explained.

When asked what his achievement means to him, he said he is deeply honoured to be an ambassador for his school, Crawford International Lonelhill College through The President’s Award.

“Even though I have already accomplished such an achievement, I’m still motivated to try new things and help communities in need, with or without an award to my name,” he added.

Client experience officer from Crawford Robyn Swanepoel said the philosophy of the award that Jaidyn has won, is that it equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests.

“Doing the award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements,” she explained.

Jaidyn said he dedicates his award to his mother, “She has always taken the time to drive me to reach my fullest potential and I am truly grateful for her support. At the moment I’m doing the gold level of the President’s Award which spans over 12 months.”

Robyn added, “In South Africa, the certificates have the signatures of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa. The certificates are recognised globally by employers and institutions of higher learning.”
