Junior College Gardens learners learn about matter

Chemical reactions and fun experiments were on display as learners celebrate their annual science day.

Junior College Gardens Grade 0 ‘professors’ were challenged to demonstrate chemical reactions and their interest in science by showcasing their experiments in front of their classmates and their parents.

The learners took turns to demonstrate their experiments, some using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. just to name a few. The principal Bianca Durrant commended the learners for their creativity and bravery in showcasing their experiments.

“Every year our Grade 0 has their science day, and this year’s theme was ‘matter’, ” she said. “Matter is any substance that has shape, volume, or form. They had to learn what it means to turn liquids into gases, as well as liquids into solids. Today they had to dress up and showcase their experiments with the help of their parents, and they get to understand what the outcome of mixing different chemicals is.”

The school prides itself on encouraging and moulding future professionals by letting them participate in special days such as the eisteddfod, science day, and entrepreneur’s day, just to name a few. The learners also learn digital literacy.
