Criminal busted with stolen stock

The matter was reported by a customer of the security company after noticing some suspicious behaviour and alerted them.

SB Security launched a sting operation after they received a tip-off from their customer who suspected some unusual activity in their yard. The security company reported in a social media post that the alleged criminals were stealing stock from trucks while in transit.

“Our operations team placed ‘spotters’ in the areas where we suspected the stock may be sold off. Within a week of the ‘spotters’ being placed, we received information from them that the stock had been seen and was being sold at reduced prices in Kya Sands.”

As a result, SB Security contacted Douglasdale police to alert them about their findings which led to the arrest of one suspect.

“They [police] accompanied us to the location which led to a suspect being arrested and a large quantity of stock being recovered. Well done to our team for putting this operation together and for the service you have provided to our customer.”

The suspect was arrested on Monday, 28 July, in Kya Sands at his shop after failing to provide proof of purchase of the cement. According to Fred Nkuna, media spokesperson of the security company, 75 bags of cement were recovered by the Douglasdale police.

“We would like to thank the Douglasdale police for helping us in this operation,” he said.
