Under the guidance of ward inspector Seoketsa, the operation was meticulously planned and executed. Illegal hawkers, who had been causing congestion and obstructing pedestrian movement, were a particular focus of the cleanup. By removing these unauthorized vendors, the operation aimed to enhance road safety and ease traffic flow.

Ward 94 councillor David Foley said, “The law is clear, no hawkers on provincial roads but this is ignored around the Fourways area.

“We call on the JMPD for more operations to ensure bylaws are enforced through daily operations, so Fourways is restored to a clean and aesthetically pleasing look. Fourways Mall is spending millions on upgrading plants and vegetation around the mall.”

This effort not only improved the aesthetic appeal of the area but also contributed to preventing potential environmental hazards.

The AFS team provided manpower and resources, and their expertise in waste management and environmental cleanliness contributed significantly to the overall effectiveness of the JMPD ensuring the operation proceeded smoothly and addressed any potential security concerns.
