In celebration of Mandela Day, the learners and staff of Broadacres Academy dedicated 67 minutes to a heartwarming initiative.

On July 18, in celebration of Mandela Day, the learners and staff of Broadacres Academy dedicated 67 minutes to a heartwarming initiative. Together, they packed an impressive 434 ‘Broadacres bags of Hope,’ specially designed to provide sustenance for a family of four. This remarkable effort resulted in feeding a staggering 1,736 individuals.

Mandela Day, observed annually on July 18th, honours the late Nelson Mandela’s legacy by encouraging individuals and organizations worldwide to devote 67 minutes of their time to community service. The number 67 represents the years Mandela spent fighting for social justice, equality, and human rights.

At Broadacres Academy, the learners and staff embraced the spirit of Mandela Day with enthusiasm and compassion. They recognized the importance of addressing food insecurity, a prevalent issue affecting numerous families in their community. The ‘Broadacres Bags of Hope’ project was born out of this desire to make a tangible difference.
