KnitWits were hard at work, clicking their knitting needles and looping their crochet hooks to make thousands of warm scarves and blankets that were handed out. The volunteers were from schools, churches, community organisations and companies.

The 67 Blankets for Mandela initiative had already distributed thousands of blankets made by South Africans for South Africans in need. Over the years, this initiative has grown into a global movement, mobilising thousands of active members in South Africa and around the world to crochet and knit blankets and scarves made with love while simultaneously demonstrating the true meaning of Ubuntu.
