Charity Foundation cycles for hope

Local charity foundation cycles for 2 000km in 12 days to help underprivileged learners.

Local charity foundation cycles for hope. The Thomson Smillie Foundation’s ambassadors Nolan Hoffman and Pieter Seyffert will embark on a journey to cycle over 2 000km in 12 days.

The foundation is set up to play a part in offering disadvantaged South Africans the opportunity to access quality education and basic human rights such as health care initiatives through clean drinking water and electricity.

“As we are a new foundation we have started with education because we believe we need our future leaders to be educated. So, we decided to create a cycling event that travels from Pont Drift Border gate to Cape Town. We selected Fish Hoek High School to be our beneficiary and have selected three individuals that receive full secondary school bursaries,” said Peter Thomson of the Thomson Smillie Foundation.

The challenge will have nine riders and a support crew of five that will be on standby to help out throughout the journey. The crew will cycle from Pont Drift Border gate at the top end of our country to Cape Town 2 090 km over 12 days to raise funds for underprivileged learners throughout the country. The foundation hopes to continue with this tradition and as soon as our awareness grows, we will be taking on schools along the route.
