Gospel sensation ready to rise to stardom

Bosa Letlhake said she was inspired by her Christian background to sing gospel.

Bosa Letlhake, affectionately known by her stage name ‘Bosalioness’, has always known that she was destined for greatness from a young age. The gospel star from Fourways has recently recorded and released a new song that she said speaks directly to the soul.
Speaking to Fourways Review about her latest offering, Seteng Sediba, Bosa said she credits her Christian family background for her successful music career to this day.

“I grew up in a small village called Makapanstad. My upbringing by the grace of God was smooth-sailing. As I was growing up, I always had this supernatural boldness. I remember when I was in preschool, I would enter beauty pageants and walk away with the crown. I always had this confidence in me when it comes to the arts.”

Bosa has always loved to sing for as long as she can remember. She said she started as a solo artist before she decided to hit the studio and produce her own music.

“I was always the chorus leader from preschool, primary and secondary school so much that I won awards during singing competitions.”

This is a talent that also runs in her family, “My mother used to sing at church and she once won an award for the Lutheran Church. She was also singing solo even though she did not take it professionally. So, I got my singing voice from my mom.”

Bosa explained that before she became a born-again Christian, she used to sing other music genres like house but that was something she did not quite jell with.

“I realised when I was in high school that I am good at singing gospel rather than other genres. I chose gospel because I am a child of God, it is my daily bread because I accepted God as my Lord and Saviour.”

She released her first CD in 2020. She said she broke into the music scene with an official song titled, Mohau.

“The song was about grace. There was a time in my life when I realised that I am who I am today and have achieved everything I wanted not because of my own wisdom but because of God’s grace.”

On May 6 this year, Bosa recorded two live songs in which she featured the Unity in Praise and Worship, a group that is made up of local artists.

“I did a live recording because I have already done 12 songs in the studio. I felt that the studio songs do not show my capability or give me a chance to showcase what God gave me. So, with live recordings, I can be myself and who I am in Christ freely. It is not a stage thing without having to pause and rerecord.”

She said this was a moment to die for. “I have always ministered before people at church and even when I was young but this time, it was a great experience because I was ministering for a lot of people using what God gave me. I will be launching a single on the 30 September but it will be in Northam.”
