Young Urban Traders sow back in the community

The Matriarch and Young Urban Traders build veggie boxes and plant vegetables that will be donated to the community.

The Matriarch School joins forces with the Young Urban Traders to give back to the community. Young Urban Traders are a group of local children who have started an online market selling products they have made, grown, or locally sourced.

Benjamin Bean is with his veggie box ready to plant some hope in the community.

“Our learners will mix organic materials as they prepare to grow winter greens which will be donated to underprivileged families in surrounding communities. The learners will monitor and manage the garden under the supervision of one of the Young Urban Traders horticulturists,” said Pamela Blazeby of The Matriarch School.

Eleanor Bean is ready to plant her seedlings to help poor communities.

The initiative will build veggie boxes and plant vegetables that will be donated to the community once they are grown. The Young Urban Traders have organised the donation of pallets for the veggie boxes, which will be made by the children of The Matriarch School.

The Young Urban Traders have already started to prepare all the winter veggies that will be planted in the veggies boxes, the Matriarch will manage the veggie boxes and garden until they are ready to be harvested and handed over to the beneficiaries in the community.
