Lillian Jackson, a talented 17-year-old dancer from Fourways dance studio Just Wing It, is poised to represent South Africa in a prestigious world dance competition in Croatia. With over a decade of training in styles, ranging from tap and contemporary to lyrical and jazz, Lillian will compete against some of the world’s best dancers in a variety of disciplines.

Her passion for dance was sparked at a young age when she transitioned from rhythmic gymnastics to dance. Drawn to the music and movement aspect of her gym classes, she has since explored music from all corners of the globe, incorporating a wide range of influences into her choreography.

While Lillian enjoys all styles of dance, tap holds a special place in her heart. She loves the precision and coordination required for the highly rhythmic and percussive style. However, she is also eager to showcase her contemporary, hip-hop, and jazz skills at the upcoming competition.

“I’m thrilled for this opportunity that I’ve been working towards for so long. I hope to inspire others to pursue their goals and make my friends, family, and studio proud.”
According to her parents, she is part of an incredible studio that balances rigorous training with a fun, supportive environment.

“I hope Lillian feels a sense of accomplishment because of Croatia,” says her mother, Cathy Jackson.
“I hope she sees how hard work and perseverance can lead to amazing experiences and rewards. I hope she gains confidence and courage, and most of all, I hope Croatia becomes an unforgettable memory for her.”

Lillian is grateful for the support she has received from Just Wing It, where she has developed close relationships with her fellow dancers, parents, and teacher Julie-Anne Oberholzer. “I’m lucky to have such amazing friends and a support system that believes in me and fosters my growth.”

The team has also received generous sponsorship from Greg and Michelle Hegland, who have worked tirelessly to secure funding for their journey to Croatia.
