Local comedian set to head to Pineslopes for one-man show

One local comedian is set to rock the Fourways community at Pineslopes’s Funk Ba.

One local comedian is heading to Fourways ready to get the community laughing just before the weekend.

Taking place at Funk Ba in Pineslopes, Robyn Dunlop will be taking a comedic twist on being a women in a man’s world for one hour.
Dunlop was the organiser of comedy shows at Paulshof’s Off the Grid sports pub for up-and-coming comedians in the city.

Her show is set to take place on May 11 at 20:00.

“The theme is very much on being a woman in a man’s world, navigating comedy, life and everything else. It’s something angled towards other women who also work, navigate relationships and try to be these boss women in the world. Sometimes we are just human, and we need to remember that,” she said.

During the heavier stages of Covid in the country, Dunlop mentioned that entertainment and comedy shows were severely affected, and had to find ways to keep people laughing.
“Comedy was definitely hard hit by Covid, with all three major comedy clubs in South Africa closing permanently. It’s been really tough for all comedians. Shifting online is not the same as instant feedback from an audience. Waiting for emojis in the comments section is a rather bizarre way to perform,” she said.

Dunlop held her first solo show in Fourways last year, and said she received positive reviews for her to pursue more solo shows.
Tickets are available on Quicket for R100.
