Community comes together to celebrate 70 years of the guide-dogs association
Seventy years since its inception, the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind hosted a number of community members and volunteers to celebrate all the aid given to their visually and physically impaired clients.

Community members, volunteers, families and practitioners came together to celebrate 70 years of a local NPO’s contributions to the visually impaired.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind held their annual family fun day event that had a birthday twist.

Not only was the day about families and community members enjoying a day out with many food and craft stalls on offer, the aim was to raise much-needed funds for the association to continue making a change in the lives of the visually and physically impaired individuals.

The day consisted of demonstrations, including talks from the orientation and mobility centre and how service dogs help people with physical ailments. Suzuki Kyalami was the sponsor of the day, and members were on-site to try their hand at driving an obstacle course while blindfolded.

Nadia Sands, SA Guide-Dogs head of marketing said there is definitely more to come for the organisation this year and beyond.
