Montrose Night Challenge commences

During the Montrose Night Challenge on March 3, the U13 netball Redhill squad were up against one of their arch rivals, HeronBridge.

Participants of the Montrose Night Challenge were delighted to showcase their finest skills in cricket and netball during week three of the event.

After the organisers had to reschedule some of the dates for the primary school tournament due to weather conditions, netball players could not contain their excitement on March 3 as there were no delays.

One of the first U13 netball games on the day was between HeronBridge College and Redhill School which had a slow start.
With only five minutes before the umpire blew the whistle for halftime, Redhill scored first but HeronBridge equalised shortly thereafter to go into the break at 1–1.

It was a good second half from both sides as the players tapped into their winning mentality. In the end, Redhill took home the win with a 5–4 victory. Redhill shooter Bokang Mthembo was the outstanding player with four goals to her credit.

“I am happy with the result, but I know that my girls could have done a lot better. The first half was a bit shaky. I think it was because of nerves and then in the second half we were a completely different team,” said the U13 netball coach of Redhill Tshepiso Maponyane.
