Ace Cycling Club from Cedar Lakes celebrate cyclists’ recent results

Montecasino Classico cycling race sees local cycling club members finish on the podium.

A Cedar Lakes-based cycling club had a number of their cyclists produce amazing results in a recent cycling race in Fourways.

Ace Cycling Club took part in the Montecasino Classico cycling race that debuted last year, and the race saw a number of Fourways roads part of the routes for the race.
Emmanuel Sequeira from the club said the club had a great experience at the race, even with the fast-moving traffic along Beyers Naudé, but still had a great time thanks to great facilities.
Last year, the club had also entered the race where members Nick Dickens and Jordan Taylor took first and second places in the men’s open category in the 90km race.

Tanit Kruger, who also recently won the South African Championships in the women’s 35 – 39 age group time trial, places third in her category in the Montecasino Classico cycling race.

“We had Lyle Poulter and Nick Dickens at Tankwa this past weekend, as well as Tanit Kruger and Roger Hillen at SA Road Champs soon,” he said.
The club started as a social riding group and was then registered as an official cycling club with Cycling South Africa last year.
“We are extremely proud of how far we have come in our first year, with three Gauteng champions and a total of four podiums at last month’s GP Champs,” he concluded.

Caren Oosthuysen from Ace Cycling Club places second in her cycling category.

Five cyclists from the club made it to the podium on the day:

  • Matthew Dickens second overall and first U15 50km
  • Nick Dickens third overall 50km
  • Aydan Sequeira third U15 50km
  • Caren Oosthuysen second overall Ladies 50km
  • Tanit Kruger third veteran ladies 90km
