Husky Rescue South Africa raises funds at wine tasting

Indaba Hotel’s Spier Tasting Room played host to a number of Husky Rescue South Africa supporters as they attended a wine tasting for a fund-raising initiative.

Community members and supporters of a local husky rescue haven gathered in Fourways to raise funds while enjoying various glasses of wine.

Farmall-based Husky Rescue South Africa hosted residents, husky owners and haven supporters at the Indaba Hotel Spier Tasting Room to raise funds and the necessities they require to keep the organisation running.

The haven is an NPO that developed a rescue programme to accommodate unwanted, abandoned, and often abused dogs. For the dogs in their care, the aim is to provide an alternative to euthanasia through utilising their haven, kennels and foster homes to care for and rehabilitate the animals while a suitable home is found for them, according to their website.

Attendees were able to take home donation cans to continue raising funds for the haven within their communities and workspaces.
Another fundraising event community members are invited to take part in is the haven’s upcoming Valentine’s Day picnic on February 11. It will take place at the haven in Farmall and a picnic basket will cost R300 and attendees will be able to enjoy the day with the huskies at the centre.
