A Fourways gymnast took home gold at a recent national competition.

Coming off a wrist injury that required three months of recuperation, Fourways High School Grade 8 learner, Madison Peché was able to take home a gold medal for her performance in the balance beam section of the competition. She had placed fourth overall.

This is the second time Madison has taken part in a national competition for gymnastics. “There are a lot of talented girls out there, so you really need to focus on the day. Getting gold means the world to me, with so much competition and talented gymnasts to compete against,” she said.
Madison has been doing gymnastics for 10 years, and also takes part in netball at her school. She added that she would love to represent her country in international competitions to make South Africa and herself proud.
