Locals channel inner abstract artists at sip and paint event

Artist Charlene Negus, with the aid of Design Quarter and EMK Links Art Gallery brought out the abstract artist in each of the attendees at a recent sip and paint event.

Community members got to channel their inner abstract artists at a sip and paint event at Design Quarter at the EMK Links Art Gallery.

The afternoon consisted of two sessions which gave attendees double the opportunity to spill their creative juices while enjoying a light meal and glass of wine.
Artist Charlene Negus facilitated the event and assisted attendees in what creative direction to take in their creative endeavours for the day. Attendees of varying ages enjoyed the session.
“Anyone can be an artist, art is subjective. Even if you’ve never painted before, your painting is meaningful to you. Events like these get you to try something new and different,” she said.

The session had a number of community members enjoying painting abstract pieces which they were able to take home. The next event is set to be announced soon.
Among the attendees on the day were artists Thulani Nhlapo and Thabang Piet Dlamini who treated the crowd and attendees to a number of live painting shows of artwork created on the spot. An assortment of materials were used to create pieces with various themes.
