Daily Bread partners with Douglasdale Police Station head to put a smile on the face of children

Brigadier Arikum said the event was aimed at giving back to the community that she serves.

Local non-profit organisation Daily Bread in partnership with the Douglasdale Police Station Commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum hosted a Christmas party last year for children living in disadvantaged communities.

Arikum said the event was aimed at giving back to the community that she served.

“Christmas is a time for giving and unfortunately there are many disadvantaged children who cannot celebrate Christmas because of circumstances and poverty. We had 24 children from the Msawawa informal settlement who we selected to receive special gifts this year,” Arikum said.

Douglasdale Police Station Commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum hosts a Christmas party for children living in disadvantaged communities.

“Each child received a gift pack, stationery pack and a meal. Children were also entertained by local singer and songwriter Garth Taylor. Our children had a fantastic time and we achieved our goal to put a smile on the children’s faces.”

The founder of Daily Bread Charmaine McGinley thanked Arikum for making Christmas special for the children.

“Our organisation has a great relationship with the brigadier and the police station and this is one of the initiatives in which we joined hands to make this year’s festive season special for children,” she said.
