New music video in the works for Fourways rapper

Hailing from Mafikeng and recording in Fourways, rapper KingSlash has described a number of local and international influences for his sound.

A Fourways artist has new projects on the horizon and talked about his journey in music and his influences.

Katlego Moyo (30) aka KingSlash, began his musical journey as a child at church and then joined a hip-hop movement in his hometown of Mafikeng.
“The movement used to host monthly shows then I came to Pretoria to expand my career and established my record label ClassyBunch productions. I started getting airplay on various platforms and secured several radio and TV interviews,” he said.

The rapper has performed at several events since 2007 and had worked with Towdeemac of the well-known group Morafe on a song Growing Up in Maftown (Mafikeng)
Moyo described his sound as one with local and international influences such as award-winning producer Pharrell Williams, hip-hop producer J Dilla and late rapper Tupac Shakur.
“I make classical songs which cater for youth and adults. My instrumentals are usually a blend of hip-hop and classics fused with South African sound and vernacular rap. I recently released a song titled Ngwana Pitori [Child of Pretoria] and the music video will soon be on all TV channels. It talks about the warm reception I’ve been receiving from people around Pretoria, especially women.”
