Attendees took to Sunninghill Gardens Park for a tunnel of terror organised by Urban Spaces which saw scores of people line up to get frightened in the spirit of Halloween. Slight delays due to the weather saw the set-up delayed, but community members still came in their numbers to take part in the celebrations.

Cindy van Latum from Urban Holdings said that over the years, there had been a decreased number of houses taking part in Halloween celebrations. “Last year, we had around 10 people come to the park their cars in the park for ‘Trick or Trunk’, which is where people go to trick or treating out of the trunk of their cars. This event is Urban Spaces’ contribution to creating community spirit and to Halloween,” she said.

The terror tunnel turned to hit Netflix series, Stranger Things for the theme of the afternoon after Van Latum sent out a poll to the community’s Facebook page. Props for the event were handmade by the Urban Spaces team that took five weeks to put together. “Considering Stranger Things is Netflix’s most successful TV show ever, I thought it would be very appealing to a lot of people. We always do something for the small children, so we thought the older generations, teenagers and adults also deserve to have something,” she said.
