My Pet and Me: Christelle le Roux and Eddie, Brandy and Malibu
Two dogs and a cat have displayed a unique trait about them that keeps the world turning for a Fourways High School teacher.
A Fourways High School teacher has an ever-growing family of furry animals in her household including two dogs and one cat.
The three animals in Christelle le Roux’s life are Eddie, Brandy and Malibu. Malibu, a toy Pomeranian and Brandy, a miniature pincher and Jack Russell-cross are her dogs, and Eddie is a ginger tabby and Maine Coon-cross. Each of them brings a set of unique traits, according to Le Roux.
“Eddie is two years old, Malibu is eight and Brandy is seven. While Eddie is the only cat, she is our guard cat and thinks she is a dog. Malibu is very energetic and always excited to meet people. An extremely lovable dog. Brandy is very shy and quiet, and she just wants a lot of love and attention,” she said.
Brandy is an SPCA rescue dog who has been under the care of Le Roux for the past seven years. “When we adopted her, we had initially wanted her sister but she was already adopted. We couldn’t leave her alone in the kennel so we took her home. She was very afraid in the beginning,” she said.
“I think as a puppy she had to fight for her food at the SPCA, so it took a bit of time for her to warm up to our home environment. Now she has climbed out of her little closet, and has become herself.”
Le Roux has had Malibu for eight years, and Eddie for two.
“I enjoy cuddles with Eddie. She has a tendency of climbing into the bed and laying across my legs like a dog which is not normal for a cat. With Brandy and Malibu, we take them for walks or jogs, and sometimes even to a dog park because they are quite social as well.”
The personalities of the three pets are what make each of them unique, from Malibu’s energy, Brandy’s desire for attention with her shyness and Eddie’s methods of acting as a guard dog.
Le Roux said her three pets were her source of happiness when she arrived back home.
