Electronic Drum Movement is taking the local music scene by storm
The young talented band was formed after they made it to the top five in a competition.

Electronic Drum Movement, also known as EDM, is a revolutionary drum group consisting of five talented drummers that come from the Fourways and Sandton areas.

The group describes itself as a percussion extravaganza, a feast for the senses, complete with smoke, fire breathing, fire poi and explosive beats. The band members are Tshepo Motloung, Matthew Charles, Zane Mancer, Ben Chuvali and Valentino Moavero.

According to Charles, the band was started at a South African music competition, Kids with Talent SA where each member had entered in the solo drums category. They all made it to the top five and were put together and EDM was born.

This unique band plays many different music genres such as hip hop, rap, trap, amapiano, electric dance music, commercial and many more. “Whichever genre of music you give us, EDM is guaranteed to bring the people to their feet and give the most memorable experience,” said Motloung.

“Each drummer must be able to play any drum at any given time. We complement our performance with acrobatics, fire breathing, fire poi and water.”

The band’s growth and momentum were stunted by Covid-19 but that did not deter the talented group. They continued to work hard and recently had the opportunity to perform at the Redfest arts festival.
