Paulshof residents partner with Sandton CPF to lend a helping hand to GBV victims’ shelter in Diepsloot

A Paulshof community activist said all donated clothing and bedding items were delivered to the shelter with the help of Diepsloot Police Station's GBV unit.

Paulshof resident and community activist Lita Jacobsen in partnership with Sandton Community Policing Forum celebrated this year’s Women’s Month by donating much-needed items to a Diepsloot non-profit organisation.

Jacobsen said generous members of the community donated different items to lend a helping hand to the Green Door Shelter which provides temporary shelter to victims of gender-based violence in Diepsloot.

She said all donated clothing and bedding items were delivered to the shelter with the help of Diepsloot Police Station’s GBV unit.

“We made arrangements with the GBV unit in Diepsloot Police Station and delivered a truckload of clothing, bedding and mattresses to Brown Lekekela who is the founder of Green Door Shelter. Mr Lekekela runs the shelter single-handedly and has dedicated his life to supporting and achieving justice for survivors of GBV.”

Lekekela thanked Paulshof residents for what he described as a gesture of kindness and generosity.

“I want to thank Lita Jacobsen and all those who donated items to help us provide warm sleep to victims of GBV at Green Door. We really appreciate and urge others to join us in our quest to help victims of gender-based violence.”
