Bright future awaits for talented Bryanston learner

Bryanston High School learner travels back home with two 1st place awards for The International Modelling and Talent Association event which took place in New York.

Bryanston High School learner Lutendo Norman Junior Tshikwatamba was given an opportunity of a lifetime twice – in 2019 and 2020.

Sadly, he had to put it on hold but when his dreams came knocking again, he did not hesitate to follow it.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Lutendo’s talent agency, 33 and Me, told him that he would be competing in one of the biggest international modelling competitiond, organised by the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA).

“In the beginning, I went with the International Arts Talent Showcase and that is what made me qualify to go the IMTA in New York. I was close to going to America back in 2019 but then my visa came late. It led me no choice to participate in the 2020 competition but then sadly Covid-19 hit which paused the competition for two years,” said Lutendo.

He was finally able to attend this year’s competition in New York, America on July 18. “I was relieved that 2022 changed for the better. My current agency, 33 and Me, assisted me during the course of my preparations and during my time in America.”

The Fourways resident who came in first place for the singing and dancing category in his division, junior men. His singing audition, where he performed Beyoncé’s version of I’d rather go blind, also landed him first place.

He return to in South Africa on July 23 and shared some inspiration for those who, like him, are juggling between education or work and their dreams. “It’s all about having the right support structure so that you can live out your dream, of course, it varies with people. If you really want to chase your dreams, go ahead and get exposed because life is short.”

Lutendo thanked his family, especially his mother, mentors, modelling agencies and his close friends for their support.
