Douglasdale police retrieve drugs worth millions

Suspects were apprehended in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg with drugs worth millions of rands.

Two suspects, 41 and 45 years old, were arrested in Douglasdale, north of Johannesburg, after drugs worth millions of rands were discovered. The accused are likely to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soonest, on charges of possession of narcotics and trafficking.

Officers from Douglasdale Police Station were on routine patrol when they came across a suspicious-looking vehicle with two passengers.
The vehicle had come to a complete halt. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers found more than eight bricks of uncut cocaine.
Both individuals were detained and charged with drug possession and trafficking.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elisa Mawela praised the police personnel for remaining focused and vigilant throughout patrols.
“Our members did a sterling job by arresting these suspects as dealing in drugs is one of the crimes that we are seeking to minimise in our province. I am pleased that these might be the suppliers to other dealers operating in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg.”
