Learners from 10 different schools of Johannesburg North converged at Pinnacle College Kyalami to exhibit their soccer and netball skills in front of hundreds of spectators who came out in numbers to support the youngsters.

The tournament dates back to 2005 and has been hosted by the school every year until the Covid-19 pandemic imposed forced suspension of the event in March 2020.
Head of pre-prep and prep schools at Pinnacle College Scelo Bhengu said the sport event did not only help learners sharpen their soccer and netball skills but also taught them how to work as a team.

“The main aim of this sports event was to afford learners who don’t get an opportunity to participate in major tournaments. We strongly believe that sports can help them learn how to work as a team, on and off the field.”
Head of high school Tammy Pannall said the return of the event will help learners re-establish relationships with other schools.

“We named this sport event Jabulani because the aim was to make learners happy and have fun at the end of the day. The intention was not for learners to compete against each other but to have fun and create friendship with one another.”
