Ward 93 councillor joins hands with pothole patrols brigade to get rid of notorious potholes in Paulshof

The councillor said residents have raised concerns about the daily mushrooming of potholes across the ward since he came into the office after the 2021 local government elections.

Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy has described potholes as a scourge faced by residents and motorists on a daily basis.

Reddy said the recent patching of a notorious pothole in the Paulshof area would bring relief to residents and motorists in the area.

This is after Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) embarked on a A Re Sebetseng programme to repair potholes in the area.

“Potholes are the scourge we face daily on our roads with many of us falling victim to them, resulting in burst tyres and damaged rims. I myself have been the victim to them on my daily drive on multiple occasions,” said Reddy.

He said residents have raised concerns about the daily mushrooming of potholes across the ward since he came into office after the 2021 local government elections.

“These potholes have been the cause of frustrations and anger to residents over the past six months. The problem was made worse by the heavy rains over the past few months and our ageing, previously poorly maintained road infrastructure.”

He said the Provincial Department of Roads and Transport in partnership with Pothole Patrol were tackling all the reported potholes on provincial roads, which in Ward 93 are Witkoppen Road, William Nicol Drive and Main Road.
