Preschools take part in World Play Day throughout Fourways

World Play Day saw a number of pre-schoolers take part in a variety of activities, with St Peter’s Prep Schools at the forefront of inviting many Fourways schools to join in the fun.

A number of pre-schools across the Fourways area celebrated World Play Day on May 28, with St Peter’s Prep Schools also taking part in the fun.

The boys’ and girls’ junior prep schools extended an invitation to various pre-schools in the surrounding areas to join them in celebration of the fun day. Each school shared in similar activities that showed the joint commitment to making sure the children are encouraged to explore through playing.

Marketer at the prep school, Diane Fraser, said there is a high importance in play for children at St Peter’s, especially since it improves cognitive, social, physical and emotional well-being in children.
“Through play, children learn about the world and themselves as well as learning skills they need for study, work and relationships,” she said.
World Play Day founder Freda Kim said the day is to emphasise the importance of play in all our lives, but more so in children.

“Children learn to talk through play; they learn to make friends through play; they get exercise through play; they also acquire the basic skills for formal education such as concentration, imagination, self-expression and the retention of useful facts.
“Let a child play today and ensure their happy, useful and healthy future.”
