Local clinic will no longer administer vaccination through mobile community outreach programme

Business development manager at the local health facility said the decision was informed by the decreasing numbers of people seeking vaccination.

Witkoppen Mobile Clinic is no longer administering its vaccinations through the community outreach programme.

Business development manager at the local health facility Dagmar Kahn said the decision was informed by the decreasing number of people seeking vaccines.

“[From 25 May,] Witkoppen Mobile Clinic will no longer be administering vaccinations through the community outreach programme. We will be moving our vaccination programme back into our main facility at 105 William Nicol Drive, Fourways,” Kahn said.

She said the clinic has vaccinated more than 60 000 patients since opening the vaccination site nearly a year ago. “We are donor-funded and the cost of doing the mobile clinic vaccinations has become unsustainable and we can no longer afford to continue. In line with national trends, the number of people seeking vaccination have been steadily decreasing.”

She added that the mobile clinic will be available for targeted drives at schools and workplaces on special request.
