Seven suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle have been released

Police said the suspects were arrested in Riverside following a tip-off from a member of the community.

Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula said seven male suspects arrested for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle have been released.

Mathebula said the suspects aged between 22 and 36 were arrested in Riverside following a tip-off from a member of the community on May 12.

“The matter involving a suspect by the name of Max and six others was not placed on the court roll. All suspects were released pending further investigation as per the court’s directive. The South African Police Service has since launched a further investigation on the matter.”

Mathebula encouraged members of the community to report any criminal and suspicious activities to the local police.

“Members of the public can report crime anonymously on the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or send tip-offs on MySAPS app which can be downloadable on any smartphone.”
