Joburg Ombudsman encourages residents to lodge complaints of maladministration and service delivery

Communications and media officer in the office of the Ombudsman said many people don’t understand the role of the Ombudsman office in the City of Johannesburg.

The Office of the Ombudsman for the City of Johannesburg has encouraged residents to utilise their recently opened regional offices to lodge service delivery complaints.

Communications and media officer in the office of the Ombudsman, Nicole Modise said the role of the office is often not understood by most of our communities.

Modise explained that they’ve expanded their offices. “The Office of the Ombudsman has expanded its reach in the seven regions of the City of Johannesburg in an effort to assist residents with the lodging of service delivery complaints relating to alleged maladministration and inequitable treatment by the City entities and departments.”

She said residents will be required to show documents and background information when they lodge complaints at their offices. “Residents must have their copy of ID, reference number of their complaint, proof of residence and all prior correspondence that relates to the complaint such as emails and SMS. We have our Region A offices at Midrand Customer Service Centre, 300 15th Road in Randjespark and 137 Daisy Street, Sandown Sandton in Region E.”
