Support Reach for a Dream’s Slipper Day

This year, the event hopes to raise R8 million.

Locals are invited to support Reach for a Dream’s annual Slipper Day on May 6.

The Illovo-based NGO has worked for 34 years with children battling life-threatening illnesses by inspiring hope in these children’s lives by making their dreams a reality.

The annual fundraiser has previously been supported by industry giants Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies and Pick ‘n Pay. This year, new partners ToyZone and Baby City have come on board to allow the project to reach more South Africans.

The initiative is geared toward all South Africans no matter their age or industry. From schools and corporates to individuals.

Last year, the event raised over R6 million which was used to fulfil the dreams of many young dreamers. This year, the event hopes to raise R8 million.

Reach for a Dream CEO Julia Sotiranakos said, “Our call to action this year is simple. We ask all South Africans to rally behind us and play their part in being visible agents of change. The foundation’s biggest goal is to have every South African in slippers on May 6.”

Sticker and slipper-wearing individuals are invited to visit any Wimpy and receive a free cup of coffee on May 6.

Locals are also invited to visit www.reachforadream.org.za/store/ to purchase a pair of slippers from the new funky range and purchase a supporter sticker too.

Slipper Day stickers will also be available for purchase at retail partners including Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Pick ‘n Pay, ToyZone and Baby City.

Locals are encouraged to spread awareness on social media by posting a selfie using the #Slipperday2022 and #Reachforadream on May 6.
