Reddam House Helderfontein gets a friendly visit from SA Guide-Dogs Association
GLENFERNESS – Reddam House Helderfontein learners enjoy a day filled with puppy cuddles
Learners from Reddam House Helderfontein recently received a visit from the South African Guide-Dogs Association.
They had a fun day learning all about the SA Guide-Dogs Association. Marketing and fundraising coordinator, Melanie Nel, explained to the learners what role dogs play and what services they provide to people who are visually impaired and physically disabled.
“At the heart of what we do is helping people and children who are visually and physically impaired to gain back some independence, mobility and where possible finding a loving canine companion,” Nel said.
The youngsters learnt a great deal about the puppy raising programme and asked many insightful questions. They were also able to interact with the puppies and their trainers after the talk.
Nicola Crooks, the headmistress of the junior preparatory and early learning school at Reddam House Helderfontein, said, “The students have had a wonderful morning and are very excited to investigate through our Reddam Gives Back initiative, and how they can sponsor a puppy litter through the Litter Legend programme.”
