Douglasdale arrest 22 suspects in police operations

DOUGLASDALE – Community members are encouraged to report any criminal activity to the police.

Recent police operations conducted in Douglasdale saw 22 suspects arrested.

Captain Mpho Tshetlhane, spokesperson for the Douglasdale Police Station said the suspects were arrested between February 18 and 20.

“The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from hijacking, kidnapping, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, extortion, possession of housebreaking implements, armed robbery, assault, possession of drugs, theft, dealing in liquor without license and shoplifting.”

Among those arrested, four were arrested for the hijacking and kidnapping of a 34-year-old man, his wife and two minors on February 18 in Kya Sands.

All those arrested will be appearing in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police continue to encourage community members to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas on 011 699 1300 or 08600 10111. Alternatively, they can use the MySAPS app to send anonymous tip-offs or visit the nearest police station.
