Murder suspect remanded in custody

DIEPSLOOT – Due to a dispute between two men over a woman, the former partner of the woman succumbed to his stabbing injuries allegedly caused by the current partner.

A 32-year-old male suspect has been remanded in custody on February 25 after being charged for stabbing a male victim.

The incident took place on the evening of February 23 in Diepsloot Ext 2, allegedly due to a dispute over a woman.
It is alleged that the victim, who is the ex-boyfriend of the woman at the centre of the dispute, was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by the current boyfriend, according to police spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula.

“This happened after he [victim] accosted his ex-girlfriend, insisting they must get back together. The victim was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
“Initially, the suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder. The charge was changed to murder after the victim succumbed to his stab wound this morning [February 25].”
The suspect was remanded in custody after he appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
