‘Roof man’ arrested in Riverside View

RIVERSIDE VIEW – The man was seen by the residents damaging the property.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on March 8 in Riverside View after he allegedly climbed on the roof of a house, removed the tiles and damaged some of the plumbing.

A community member who claimed to know the man said she suspected that his behaviour could be due to possible drug addiction. The police were called to the scene and on their arrival, the man threw tiles at them.

The suspect eventually climbed down from the roof and was apprehended.

According to Diepsloot Police Station spokesperson Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, the suspect was charged with malicious damage to property and appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on March 10 where he was remanded in custody.
