Ward 94 councillor, David Foley conducts inspection across the ward after heavy rains

KYALAMI– Foley said he logged calls with relevant departments and entities of the City of Johannesburg to report damaged caused by floods in the area.

Following the heavy rains over the past few weeks, Ward 94 councillor David Foley and his ward inspector John Seoketsa conducted inspections to assess the extent of the damage due to flooding across the ward.

Foley said the rains had caused damage to public infrastructure in low-lying areas, especially on the gravel roads that were eroded by raging water on February 4.

“Some roads were badly damaged and some blocked by sand making driving difficult for motorists. Roads like Zannia Road and Rena Road in Kyalami were among those badly affected. Rena Road, which is a sand road, was eroded in such a way that those driving small cars could not use it,” he added.

Foley said he had logged calls with the relevant utilities of City of Johannesburg to report the damage caused by the flooding.

“Joburg City Parks and Zoo was contacted to trim the trees that had fallen over the road and they did that the same day after reporting. We have also reported the matter to JRA to come and remove the sand that has piled up on the road making driving difficult for people driving on the corner of Zannia and Rana roads.”
