Fourways boxer heads to Emperors Palace

FOURWAYS – Undefeated since 2017 in the cruiserweight division, local boxer Kevin Lerena is ready to start his journey for the WBA Inter Continental Heavyweight title.

A local boxer is set to begin his pursuit of glory in the heavyweight ranks.

Kevin “Two Guns” Lerena made this announcement at a press conference on January 25 at Emperors Palace. Lerena has been undefeated in the International Boxing Organisation cruiserweight division since 2017 and has decided to vacate the division to join the heavyweight ranks.

He will face Bogdan Dinu from Romania for the vacant World Boxing Association during the headline bout of the ‘Heavyweight Mania’ Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace on March 26.

Lerena said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of South African heavyweight greats like Gerrie Coetzee, Corrie Sanders and Francois Botha who all became world heavyweight champions.
