“Being apart from each other has definitely been one of the hardest things I’ve had to go through. I don’t think I would’ve been able to go through all of it without having full trust and great communication with my partner.
“It also helps that we have been together for such a long time so we’ve had a great foundation to be able to build long distance upon,” she said.
While the singer’s previous single Best Friend celebrated her distinctive self-love theme, Tshirt explores romantic love. With all this time spent apart from each other, the Battleships hit maker redirected her focus on songwriting, producing some of her best work yet.
He current song speaks of the reality of a long distance relationship where she sings about waiting by the window, wearing her partner’s T-shirt inside out, and how every day was a reminder about the love they shared.

“I received so much love for this song and it really makes my heart warm because the song means so much to me.

“I’ve had people who aren’t even in long-distance relationships reach out because they feel that longing in non-romantic relationships in their lives where they experience a long-distance relationship, missing someone dearly.”
Looking to the future, Gray said there were some goals she had this year including coming back to South Africa to perform here, a mini tour in the United States, as well as some new music to be released soon.
