Four arrested by Diepsloot police

DIEPSLOOT – Community members had reported a series of robberies in the area to police.

Thanks to the efforts of Diepsloot Crime Prevention, four male suspects were arrested in Ext 1 and 11 on November 24 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.

While on patrol, police received tip-offs about the four suspects, aged between 28 and 42, who had allegedly been involved in a series of robberies in the community.
Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for Diepsloot police said the addresses of the suspects were given to police by an informant and the homes had been raided.

At one of the homes, a 28-year-old suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, live ammunition and a suspected stolen bicycle.

“Three more suspects were arrested the same morning at different addresses after they were allegedly found in possession of live ammunition and suspected stolen property.
“All four suspects are being profiled in order to establish if they can be linked with robberies and other serious crimes that they might have committed before,” he said.

The suspects are due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on November 26.
