Sinking road on Douglas Drive corner to be repaired by JRA

DOUGLASDALE – The corner of Douglas Drive and Galloway Avenue had a burst pipe in July that was repaired, but the patched road is now sinking.

Johannesburg Roads Agency started to repair a sinking section near the corner of Douglas Drive and Galloway Avenue in Douglasdale.

The road was initially repaired after a pipe burst in July but the restored section soon started to collapse again.
The Fourways Review visited the area with Ward 106 councillor Chris Santana on September 30.
The agency had promised that it would start with repairs on October 6 after Santana had raised concerns about the road being dangerous for motorists.

“I’ve reported the issue a number of times, and nothing gets done. There is an old age home around here as well,” he said at the time, adding he wanted to get the issue resolved before the rainy season started.
