Police arrest more than 50 suspects during an operation

DOUGLASDALE – Crimes including drinking in public and possession of drugs saw suspects arrested to soon appear in court.


Douglasdale police arrested more than 50 suspects in multiple operations in the area between August 20 and 22.

Spokesperson of the Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane said suspects were arrested for various crimes.

“The suspects were arrested for crimes such as fraud, possession of drugs, assault with intention to [cause] grievous bodily harm, common assault, shoplifting and drinking in public,” Tshetlhane added.

Among those arrested, 38 were in contravention of the Disaster Management Act. All suspects were set to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

Police are appealing to community members to keep reporting all criminal activities in their areas.
