SUNNINGHILL– NPA spokesperson says the accused is currently serving his 18-year sentence for murder and attempted murder he committed in 2014.

A 30-year-old convicted offender accused of killing a female warden at Leeuwkop Correctional Service Centre earlier this month, Nigel Marais, briefly appeared in Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on August 18.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindile Mjonondwane said the case was postponed to August 26 for further investigation. “A convicted offender, Nigel Marais (30), appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on August 18 for the murder of a correctional officer at the Leeuwkop Correctional Centre.
